Harold

      Over all I enjoyed the movie it was very different but good. I have never seen a movie with this kind of idea. Harold really likes going to funerals and enjoys death. He likes to pull pranks on people where he " kills " himself. He has done it on his mom so many times she is used to it. Maude is a little old lady from somewhere in Europe. She also enjoys going to funerals because it reminds her of life and freedom. She teaches him a lot about the value of life. She does not want to live past 80 so on her 80th birthday she killed herself and for the first time he felt sad about someones death. Harold's mom has not loved him like she should have. She has always been about what she wants and less what he wants. When she needs to find him a wife she fills out the paper for herself and doesn't ask him for what he wants. Harold's uncle is in the army and always gives him advice. Harold and his Psychiatrist have an interesting relationship. In some parts of the movie Harold will copy things that he does. In parts of the movie there is foreshadowing and thinking about now if i watched it a second time i would be able to point out a lot more things.

"Don't Be A Sucker"

1) What parallels can you draw between this 1947 War Department propaganda and today's current political climate?

    - Back then and even today we have problems with race and if you are a real American or not and this film relates back to that.

2) How effective do you think that this video would have been when it was first shown?

     - I think that back in the day this would have been vary effective because no one really talked about that subject in that way. Everybody always talked badly about the other races during that time period and in the video they are trying to stop that so i feel like this video had a lot of talk because not everyone would agree with it.  

3) How effective do you think that this video is when shown today?

    - If you were to show this video in a movie theater today I feel like a lot of people would take it serious but most people would not pay attention to it because these kinds of things are talked about daily and everyone has heard it  everyday. We see these types of things on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and so many other social medias that it becomes a part of our daily lives. 

4) If there is a difference, what do you think accounts for it?

    - I think the difference is the time period. In 1947 this video would have been very effective and today it would still be effective but not as effective.
